As I read the story I was gripped by what could have happened to Naomi and suspected various characters at different points - her father, her brothers, the friends. Trouble was that I didn't actually like any of the characters, with maybe the exception of Theo. I guess you are supposed to understand why Naomi would want to leave but I thought debarras she just came across as a spoilt debarras teenager.
I felt that some parts of the story were not developed as well as they could be - Ed kept hinting at various problems from 'before' but we never got the full background to these which I found frustrating. I also found it odd that Yoshka didn't target Theo at all - was this because he was happy in his life and therefore more difficult to get to? I was expecting either debarras Simon or Dan to come out as part of Yoshka's plan at some point.
Onto the ending - what a complete disappointment. Is the author hopingfor a follow up or could she just not think of what to do? I'm wondering if there will be a book in the future told from Naomi's side of the story.
Have just finished this and completely agree. Was a bit disappointing as was a good effort, parts of the story I liked. was completely unconvinced by the ending. I know it's fiction but don't believe she would have just driven off like that if she's seen her mum. Will still look forward to reading more by the author.
